Return an online order by mail
- Open Cole Haan’s official Return/Exchange flow.
- Identify the order and select the merchandise.
- Review the authorization date and whether a $7.95 fee appears.
- Pack the item unworn, unaltered and in original packaging.
- Use the authorized label and retain the tracking receipt.
- Wait for warehouse inspection and verify the refund on the original payment method.
Original shipping charges and related shipping taxes are not refundable. The free-return threshold concerns the return label, not the original delivery charge.
Store returns avoid the mail fee—but not for every payment
Eligible ColeHaan.com merchandise shipped to a U.S. address can be returned to a U.S. Cole Haan retail or outlet store free. However, Klarna, PayPal and Final Sale orders cannot be returned to a Cole Haan store. Those payment restrictions make it important to check the receipt before traveling.
Store routing also matters for store purchases. Full-price purchases must go to full-price retail stores, while outlet purchases must go to outlet stores. Purchases made outside the United States must be returned in the country where they were bought.

Free exchanges have a narrow definition
The exchange option is for the same style and color in a different size or width. A different color or product requires a new order. The replacement is not guaranteed because stock can sell out.
Cole Haan’s exchange process includes a separate invoice for the replacement. The customer pays that invoice, and the original item is refunded after Cole Haan receives the return or after the exchange invoice is paid, whichever happens first. The replacement does not ship until the original is on its way and the invoice is paid.
Condition, packaging and Final Sale
Cole Haan requires merchandise to be unworn and unaltered. Return it in the original packaging. For shoes, try them on indoors and keep soles clean; for apparel or outerwear, avoid tailoring, laundering or removing product components.
Final Sale items cannot be returned or exchanged. The current promotional terms also say Final Sale is not eligible for a price adjustment. Preserve the product-page designation and order confirmation.
Refund processing time
After the warehouse receives the goods, Cole Haan asks customers to allow 2–3 business days for processing. The credit is issued after receipt and inspection, and it may take up to one billing cycle to post.
If Cole Haan cannot refund the original payment, it reserves the right to issue an eGift card or another appeasement to the original purchaser. Alternate payment methods are not automatically credited.
Gift returns
A gift return normally refunds the original payment method, meaning the purchaser may receive the money. For an online gift exchange, contact Customer Service with the order number or purchaser details. A gift paid with a gift card is restored to that card or a replacement gift card.
Where third-party purchases go
Cole Haan stores process eligible purchases from Cole Haan retail, outlet and ColeHaan.com under the stated rules. A product bought from another retailer must go back to the original seller. The logo on the shoe does not identify the refunding merchant.
Scenarios that cause confusion
The return was started on day 16 after shipment
If it remains within 30 days of purchase, it may still be eligible, but the $7.95 mail deduction applies because authorization occurred after the 14-day shipment threshold.
The PayPal order is eligible but the store refused it
The current policy excludes PayPal online orders from store returns. Use the authorized online return route.
The customer wants another color
The free exchange covers only a different size or width in the same style and color. Place a new order for a different color.
The refund email arrived but the card shows nothing
Allow the payment provider’s posting time, which Cole Haan says can be up to one billing cycle. Keep the refund confirmation and ask for the transaction reference if it remains missing.
