Chico’s accepts most eligible returns and exchanges within 60 days of purchase. Merchandise must be in original condition, unworn and unwashed unless defective. Final Sale or “as-is” items, gift cards and gift boxes are excluded. U.S. mail returns using the prepaid label have a $7 processing deduction; eligible returns to a Chico’s boutique are free.
First identify the correct Chico’s channel
Chico’s separates full-price boutiques and websites from Chico’s Outlet or Off The Rack. A boutique purchase cannot be returned to an Outlet or Off The Rack location, and an outlet purchase cannot be returned to a full-price boutique. Purchases must also be returned in the country where they were made.
| Purchase | Correct return destination |
|---|---|
| Chico’s full-price store or website | Eligible full-price Chico’s boutique or online mail route |
| Chico’s Outlet / Off The Rack | Matching outlet channel |
| Airport or cruise location | Original location only |
| International online order | International Customer Service and required authorization |
| BorderFree order | Online return only |
What qualifies within 60 days
Eligible merchandise must be in original condition, unworn and unwashed, unless it is defective. Returns need the original receipt, a gift receipt, or enough information for Chico’s to validate the purchase date and amount in its system. Identification may be required for fraud prevention.
Swimwear, watches, intimates and hosiery can be returned only when unworn and in original packaging or with original ticketing; sanitary shields must remain attached where applicable. Soiled or washed merchandise is not accepted.
Mail return versus boutique return
Return to a boutique
An eligible U.S. online or telephone purchase can be returned or exchanged at a Chico’s U.S. boutique, excluding outlets. Bring the item and proof of purchase. This route avoids the $7 prepaid-label processing deduction.
Return by mail
Open the Chico’s Returns Portal and download the prepaid label. When the return is received, Chico’s deducts $7 from the refund. Customers can use another carrier at their own cost; Chico’s recommends a traceable and insured service.
- Confirm the item is within 60 days and belongs to the full-price or outlet channel being used.
- Locate the receipt, gift receipt or order information.
- Choose a free eligible boutique return or the $7 prepaid mail route.
- Keep product ticketing, packaging and hygiene protection intact.
- Save the store receipt or mail tracking until the refund appears.
For another women’s retailer with different timing, see the Ann Taylor return policy. The purchase channel and Final Sale marking should be checked separately for each brand.
No receipt: lower value and a transaction limit
If Chico’s chooses to accept a return without proof of purchase, it may offer an exchange or merchandise credit based on the lowest historical selling price after promotions, coupons, discounts and free-item offers are considered. This can be much lower than the customer remembers paying.
Non-receipted returns are limited to $250 within a 90-day period, excluding defective merchandise. A return without original ticketing may also be issued as a merchandise card. Search the customer account, email and payment record before using this fallback.
How refunds are paid
Normal refunds go to the original form of payment. Gift-receipt returns may receive merchandise credit. When several payment methods were used, Chico’s applies the refund in this order: merchandise or gift cards, credit cards, check and then cash.
For a purchase paid by check, the customer can choose a merchandise card, or Chico’s can mail a check within 30 days of the return. Shipping and handling paid on the purchase are non-refundable.
PayPal, Quick Exchange and replacement charges
Chico’s currently allows merchandise bought through PayPal to be returned in a store or by mail using the provided label. That makes older advice saying “PayPal returns are mail only” inaccurate for the current U.S. policy.
For another size or color, the Quick Exchange Service places a replacement order by phone. Chico’s charges the preferred credit card for the new order but waives standard ground shipping, then helps return the original. Expect the replacement charge and original refund to exist separately for a time.
Final Sale is visible in the price
Merchandise marked Final Sale is sold as-is and cannot be returned, exchanged or price-adjusted. Chico’s says prices ending in .98 indicate Final Sale. Check the final price on the receipt rather than relying only on the product name.
Price adjustments are not online returns
For an in-store purchase, Chico’s offers a one-time price adjustment when the price falls within 14 days and the original receipt is presented in store. The adjustment returns to the original payment method. Online and catalog purchases are not eligible for an in-store price adjustment, and additional exclusions can apply.
Refund processing and escalation
Chico’s says reimbursement for a return without an exchange can take up to two weeks. Mail transit occurs before that processing. Keep tracking and compare the warehouse delivery date with the refund confirmation.
If the refund is late, provide Customer Service with the order number, carrier delivery record, returned items and expected payment method. For a no-receipt return, also record the merchandise-card value offered.
Common questions
Can Chico’s Outlet purchases be returned to a boutique?
No. Outlet and Off The Rack merchandise must stay in the outlet channel; full-price merchandise stays in the full-price channel.
How much is a mail return?
The prepaid U.S. label has a $7 processing deduction. An eligible boutique return avoids it.
What does a price ending in .98 mean?
Chico’s identifies it as Final Sale, which cannot be returned or exchanged.
Can I return without a receipt?
Chico’s may accept it, but the outcome can be merchandise credit at the lowest historical price and is subject to the $250-per-90-days limit.

Bottom line: the 60-day window is only the first test. Match full-price versus outlet, protect ticketing and hygiene components, and choose between a free boutique return and the $7 mail label before submitting the request.
