Young Living Return Policy: Unopened Products, Account Credit and RMA

Young Living Return Policy

Young Living Return Policy

A Young Living return is not always a cash refund. Under its published U.S. policy, a customer returning an unopened product within 30 days after shipment may qualify for a refund to the original payment method, while returns of opened items and later qualifying returns generally follow an account-credit route. First establish whether the buyer is an ordinary customer or a Brand Partner; the company publishes different provisions for these two groups. For current instructions, consult the Young Living US customer return policy. For current instructions, consult the Young Living US Express Help.

Why ‘within 90 days’ is not enough information

Young Living’s U.S. return rules differentiate unopened goods, opened goods, the early refund window and later account-credit treatment. A customer returning an unopened item within the first 30 days after shipment may qualify for an original-payment refund of the purchase price and applicable tax, with shipping charges excluded. An opened item within that early period is generally treated as an account-credit request rather than an automatic cash refund. Later qualifying returns through the stated 90-day period may be credited to the account with the policy’s handling-fee deduction. These options are not interchangeable. Identify the shipment date, buyer category and seal condition before estimating what money, if any, is payable to the original bank card.

Opened bottles and the actual quantity remaining

Young Living’s published U.S. procedures describe a percentage-based credit calculation for certain opened-product returns. That means the amount left in a bottle can matter: someone who used much of an oil cannot assume they will receive the same credit as a person who opened the cap once. Keep the original container, label, remaining contents and purchase evidence; do not pour product into a different bottle or claim that it was unopened after testing it. A scent preference issue is also different from a leaking or broken bottle that arrived damaged. Contact support for the actual treatment of a delivery fault rather than attempting to make the returned quantity look larger than it is. Avoid health or therapeutic claims when explaining why you wish to return the product.

Account credit is a product purchasing balance, not cash in the bank

If the return route produces an account credit, check whether it may be used for the next order and when it expires. Young Living’s customer policy describes different outcomes for early unopened returns, early opened returns and later returns, and charges may reduce the amount available. Ask Member Services to explain any handling deduction, returned promotional item or shipping charge on the statement. Keep screenshots of the original invoice and credit issuance, especially when you plan to close or change your account. Someone who needs money returned to a card should not accept the words ‘refund approved’ without asking whether the actual approved remedy is a card refund or a Young Living account credit.

Customers and Brand Partners do not always have identical terms

The policy document identifies provisions for regular customers and separate Brand Partner transactions, including product inventory, compensation adjustments and kit treatment. If a Brand Partner bought several items as inventory, a regular customer’s unopened-product summary cannot establish every repurchase or account-termination outcome. Likewise, a recipient who bought products through an independent Brand Partner needs to identify who took payment and who has the authority to process the return. Ask Young Living or the actual seller to explain the purchase channel, relevant policy and return documentation for that transaction. Do not classify an ordinary personal return as a business-inventory repurchase simply because the purchaser also has an account or referral relationship with the brand.

Opened the oil bottle? Check the type of credit before sending it back

The Young Living U.S. policies and procedures differentiate three customer situations. An unopened product returned within 30 days after shipment may be refunded for the purchase price and applicable sales tax, excluding shipping charges. An opened product returned within that first 30-day period is handled as a product credit to the customer account rather than automatically refunded to a bank card. Qualifying opened or unopened products returned after 30 days but no later than 90 days after shipment may receive an account credit less shipping and a 10% handling fee. The credit for an opened product depends on the proportion of the product returned.

For example, opening a bottle to test its fragrance does not make it an unopened return, even if the parcel arrived yesterday. Review the credit terms before packing it: a credit you can use on later products is materially different from reimbursement to the payment card. The policy also states that customer product credits have an expiration period; check the balance and expiration in your account rather than assuming the credit remains available indefinitely.

RMA and shipping: contact the company before packing bottles

Young Living’s U.S. return procedures describe obtaining a Return Merchandise Authorization and using the assigned number on the package. Before sending a product, ask Member Services for the current U.S. return destination, packing requirements and documentation needed for your order; do not rely on an old warehouse address copied from a blog. Keep the original container and prevent leakage inside the approved outer package. Save a photograph of the packed goods, the authorization number and the carrier acceptance receipt. Because the contents may be liquids, use the shipping service approved for that product and destination. A parcel delivered to an unverified address cannot be assumed to satisfy the company’s authorization or its timetable.

Collections, promotional items and reward purchases

A set of oils bought as a kit should be checked as a whole purchase. Young Living’s policy distinguishes kits and promotional products, and a return that reverses the qualifying purchase can affect a free item or the customer’s discount. If you want to return only one bottle from a collection, ask whether the company permits a partial return or requires the full set, and how the original incentive changes. Keep the packaging and order breakdown rather than combining unrelated bottles from separate purchases. Rewards-point products may have separate restrictions. When returning something bought under a subscription or recurring program, examine that order separately; canceling future shipments does not itself reverse a charge for a parcel already shipped.

Scenario: an opened lavender oil and an unopened gift set

Suppose your Young Living order contains a lavender oil you opened and a sealed gift set you decide not to give. Both were shipped recently, but they may qualify for different remedies because of the opened condition and kit treatment. Separate the line items, confirm the shipment date and ask Member Services about returning the opened oil for any account credit and the still-sealed collection under the applicable unopened-goods terms. If the gift set was part of a promotion, explain that before requesting a partial return. Do not send the products without authorization or assume the two items will produce one original-card refund. Ask for a written itemized breakdown of the proposed credit or refund and any deductions.

Holiday buying, product quality and warranty questions

Purchasing oils as holiday gifts does not automatically extend Young Living’s shipment-based return rules; check whether the company explicitly announced a seasonal exception for your order. For a parcel that arrived leaking, broken or missing an item, photograph the exterior packaging, product label and actual discrepancy and contact Member Services promptly. Such a problem should not be processed as if you deliberately consumed some product. The routine return policy is not a blanket promise that every oil has a long-term manufacturer warranty or performs a particular health function. If a diffuser or another accessory fails after purchase, request the device-specific service or warranty conditions rather than applying bottle-return terms to it. A comparison with Bath & Body Works is useful only as a different seller’s process, never as Young Living eligibility guidance.

A Brand Partner may have different return conditions

Young Living’s U.S. policy sets separate conditions for Brand Partners, including a longer period for some unopened purchases and a different treatment of eligible opened products. These rules can involve changes to commissions or bonuses associated with returned orders. Do not present the customer’s 30/90-day summary as the full Brand Partner policy. If you sold an item to someone else, establish who bought it from Young Living and who is authorized to process the return; ask the company for the procedure applicable to that transaction.

Authorization and documentation: avoid an unrecognized parcel

Before shipping any oil or collection, obtain the relevant return instructions from the company’s official support route and keep the invoice, shipment date, account information and product details together. The published U.S. return procedures explain that returns require an authorization number and that the merchandise should remain in its original container; review the current instructions with customer service before sending anything. Do not assume a return can be accepted merely because a carrier has delivered your package.

If you ordered a kit or a promotional bundle, ask whether the complete set must be returned and how its original discount affects the credit. Avoid treating a complaint about a suspected product defect as an ordinary change-of-mind request: document the problem and request case-specific instructions. Our The Body Shop return guide concerns a different cosmetics retailer and does not define Young Living account-credit eligibility.

FAQ: Young Living customer returns

Will an opened oil be refunded to my original card?

The ordinary U.S. policy distinguishes opened goods and generally describes account credit for eligible opened returns. Confirm the exact amount and route with Member Services before shipping.

What date should I use to count the policy window?

The cited U.S. return guidelines refer to the shipment date; retain the order and shipping confirmation rather than substituting the day you first opened the bottle.

Does canceling a recurring order return the last shipment automatically?

No. Canceling future orders and requesting a return for an existing shipment are separate actions. Review the particular shipment’s return authorization and eligibility.
